I want to wish all my readers out there a very happy Valentine’s Day!

So as we all know today is February 14th and its the middle of the week, not a very good time to go out for dinner or cook for that someone special. So if you’re waiting for the weekend to treat that person to something yummy and you’re planning on cooking (don’t get me wrong this recipe is good for any day!), I’ve got a quick, easy and very delicious recipe for you to make. Valentine’s Filet Mignon. After all isn’t there a saying out along the lines of “the quickest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach.”

Before you get cooking here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2-4 4oz filet mignon steaks (let’s be honest with eachother, 1 tiny steak wont really fill you up)
  • 1/2 tps freshly ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup French dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • a pinch of salt
Sometimes it doesn't take much to make a great meal!

Directions:

First we’ll prepare the the steaks, garnish both sides with the ground pepper and add a pinch of salt just for flavour.

Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with freshly groung pepper.

Next, heat a non-stick pan over medium high heat. Add the steaks into the pan and cook the bottom for a minute or until the side turns brown. Turn over the steak and repeat for the other side.

Fry each side for a minute or until they turn brown.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour in the wine and balsamic vinegar. Cover the pan and cook for about 5 minutes. Turn over the steak and bast it in the sauce, letting it cook for another 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes turn over the steaks and bast them in the sauce.

Once the steaks are done cooking, remove them from the pan and before serving don’t forget to remove the string around it. Pour 1 tbs of the sauce over the steak and serve immediately.

Serve the steaks hot with some nice potatoes and wine.

The steaks go great with any type of potatoes and of course the red wine we used earlier. Bon appetite, enjoy your quick and easy dinner! Don’t forget to set a nice mood candle!
